Lily West never liked the word “detox.” It sounded extreme—like lemon water cleanses or cabbage soup diets. “I didn’t want to punish my body,” she says. “I wanted to support it.”
After months of bloating and fatigue, Lily suspected her gut was trying to tell her something. Instead of a crash diet, she decided to reset with gentle meals focused on giving her digestion a break.
She spent one weekend preparing simple, clean recipes: vegetable broths, ginger-carrot soups, cooked leafy greens, and probiotic-rich snacks like plain yogurt with chia seeds. Nothing spicy, nothing raw, nothing processed.
“I think we underestimate how comforting warm, easy-to-digest foods can be,” she says. “They’re not dramatic—but they work.”
She gave her system three days to recalibrate. During that time, she drank plenty of water, limited sugar, and leaned on foods with anti-inflammatory properties like turmeric, fennel, and garlic. She even tried short walks after meals to help with digestion.
By the end of the detox, her belly felt noticeably lighter—and her mood lifted too. “I didn’t feel deprived,” Lily says. “I felt cared for.”
Now, when her body feels off, she doesn’t panic. She turns back to those same simple recipes, not as a diet, but as a form of gentle support. “A reset doesn’t have to be extreme,” she smiles. “It just has to be kind.”
