Grier Maddix used to be the queen of vending machines. Between Zoom meetings and looming deadlines, she often found herself reaching for whatever snack was fastest—even if it left her jittery or crashing hours later.
“I was living off granola bars and coffee,” she says. “And wondering why I felt so burnt out every day.”
It wasn’t until a vacation to Greece that she discovered a different way to eat—one that centered around energy, not urgency. “I watched people snack without guilt or sugar crashes,” she recalls. “It was nuts, olives, fruit, yogurt… real food, with real flavor.”
Back home, she decided to replicate the Mediterranean rhythm. She swapped out processed snacks for handfuls of almonds, olives marinated with herbs, sliced cucumbers with hummus, and fruit drizzled in a little honey and tahini.
What changed wasn’t just her pantry—it was her pace.
“I stopped eating like I was always running late,” Grier says. “Instead, I gave myself moments to refuel—without sugar highs or lows.”
Her energy evened out. Her focus improved. And best of all, she felt nourished, not punished. “Mediterranean snacks aren’t a diet trend,” she says. “They’re a way to show yourself you deserve better—right in the middle of a Tuesday.”
