Perla Huxley always hit a wall around 3 p.m. “Every afternoon, like clockwork, I’d find myself standing in front of the fridge, looking for something—anything—to give me energy,” she laughs. Often, it was a handful of chips or a sugary granola bar, and just as often, the crash that followed felt even worse.
She knew she needed something better—something that could satisfy her cravings without sending her blood sugar on a rollercoaster. That’s when she started experimenting with high-fiber snacks.
“I wasn’t interested in products labeled ‘healthy,’” she says. “I wanted food that actually made me feel full and steady.”
So Perla got creative in the kitchen. She played with ingredients like chia, oats, nuts, and dried fruit. She began baking small batches of energy bites and mixing her own seed-and-nut blends with a touch of cinnamon. The first few attempts weren’t perfect—but eventually, she struck the right balance.
What surprised her most was how much fiber changed her snacking habits. “It wasn’t just that I stayed full longer,” she says. “It was that I stopped feeling like I needed more.”
Now, her afternoon snack is part of her ritual. It’s something she looks forward to—comforting, satisfying, and guilt-free. “Fiber isn’t glamorous,” Perla smiles. “But it works. And it changed how I move through my day.”
