Zinnia Starr’s Weekend Detox for Anti-Inflammation

Zinnia Starr doesn’t believe in punishment when it comes to food. “I’ve tried those harsh detoxes before,” she says. “The juice fasts, the cabbage soup diets—I always ended up cranky, dizzy, and honestly kind of defeated.”

But after years of struggling with joint inflammation and sluggish energy, she knew she needed a reset—one that was gentle, nourishing, and sustainable. So she created her own version of a weekend detox. Not a crash diet, but a two-day break from inflammation-triggering foods and a return to what made her body feel calm and supported.

Zinnia’s approach starts with real food. Warm vegetable broths with turmeric and ginger. Steamed greens with a squeeze of lemon. Soft-cooked oats with chia and berries. No coffee, no sugar, no processed snacks—just meals designed to give her digestion a rest and her immune system a chance to recalibrate.

She also gives herself space—literally and emotionally. “I light a candle in the kitchen. I take slow walks. I unplug,” she says. “It’s not just what I eat. It’s how I exist for the weekend.”

By Sunday night, Zinnia feels clearer. Her bloating is down, her joints ache less, and her mind is quieter. “It’s not magic,” she says. “It’s just two days of choosing to treat myself like someone I care about.”
